Traditional Craftsmanship
Why choose us?
We are dedicated to traditional, old-world craftsmanship, reflected in our bespoke designs and meticulous attention to every detail. Leon Mege’s workshop is New York’s best-kept secret.
Instead of wooing clients with chilled flutes of champagne and single malts, we offer professional expertise built on decades of experience. Leon Mege’s bespoke jewelry is renowned for its refined elegance and exceptional craftsmanship.
Each piece reflects a distinctive balance of modern sophistication and classical tradition. Whether you are a first-time buyer or an experienced professional, understanding the unique advantages of Leon Mege precision-forging ensures a thoughtful investment to be treasured by future generations.

Our pieces are designed to outlast passing trends by applying our superb technical skills to turn classic bridal styles into one-of-a-kind heirlooms.
- Heritage Quality: Each piece is crafted to endure and be passed down through generations.
- Uncompromising Standards: We maintain strict quality control regardless of the project’s size or complexity.
- Expert Craftsmanship: We rely on precision-forging, combined with traditional bench techniques, to ensure both structural integrity and refined aesthetics.
What sets us apart from others is our commitment to old-world craftsmanship and reliance on precision-forging technique. Our traditional bench skills allow for finer proportions, sharper detail, and a level of refinement that typical “CAD and cast” jewelers cannot replicate.
Our extensive portfolio provides a foundation for your vision, demonstrating a wide range of established designs, proportions, and stylistic references developed over many decades. Rather than starting from a blank slate, our past designs serve as a refined framework that can be adapted to your preferences and your center stone’s characteristics.
Within our designer framework, ring’s elements can be shuffled, added, or skipped. Proportions, dimensions, angles, and curvatures can be re-adjusted to conform to your specific wishes. The metal choice, the style, and the decorative details are all open to mutual interpretation in collaboration with the client. The result is not a bland piece produced from a dusted-off CAD mold, but a carefully considered, well-thought-through design.
The cost of the setting is determined by the design’s complexity and the labor required to produce it, not by the value of gemstones or the client’s wealth. The craftsmanship, on the other hand, is never compromised, regardless of the piece’s value.
Our commitment to excellence and to our clients ensures that the quality of our work always stands on its own.
We have spent our lifetime making some of the finest jewelry pieces. For decades, we have guided clients through the intricacies and pitfalls of high jewelry. Each piece is the result of a successful interaction directly with a client. We have zero competition capable of the same level of craftsmanship and artistry. Only a handful of shops worldwide operate at this level of craftsmanship and artistic control.
Each piece evolves through a close collaboration, conversation, and education of a client, and careful execution at the bench. We cut, bend, forge, and file metal stock by hand, shaping each component to perfection for assembly and meticulous finishing. To ensure both precision and safety, we set diamonds and gemstones under high magnification.
Our work is different
Our jewelry is different; it is bench-made and precision-forged, built from many individual components that are shaped, finished, and polished separately before being assembled into a single piece. Once each part reaches its final, perfect form, they are assembled by a skilled jeweler. This method allows for crisp transitions, precise edges, and clean structural lines that cannot be achieved through casting.
Unlike machine-made jewelry, the artisanal craftsmanship leaves subtle signs of the human hand, such as microscopic tool marks or asymmetrical junctions where parts meet. These are not defects, but rather evidence of traditional craftsmanship. The minute irregularities add character and authenticity to the finished jewel.

We specialize in D-F/VVS+ GIA-certified natural diamonds

Leon Mege earned his Graduate Gemologist diploma from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in 1991. The GIA is the world’s leading authority on diamonds and the creator of the modern 4Cs diamond grading system.
Finding the right diamond is rarely a matter of simply reading a grading report that provides essential information, but cannot fully describe a diamond’s visual character. Two stones with identical grades on paper can look completely different in real life.
Subtle factors such as crystal orientation, reflective inclusions, light performance, fluorescence, transparency, and the faceting pattern often determine whether the diamond appears shiny or lifeless.
When we work with you on diamond selection, we examine a significant number of stones and eliminate those that look merely average. Our proprietary evaluation approach, the “Brilliance Plus” index, allows us to identify and present only stones that truly stand out for their beauty, performance, and value. The result is a carefully curated selection of diamonds that meets the strict standards set by our esteemed clients.
Precision forging
Precision-forging represents the pinnacle of bespoke craftsmanship, practiced only in the finest workshops worldwide. By contrast, most modern jewelry is produced through CAD design and casting, a fast, inexpensive process that requires minimal production skills. The process often leaves rough or unfinished areas in hard-to-polish places. The CAD limitations are easily noticeable in out-of-focus details, blurred transitions between elements, and forced compromises in geometry, all in the interest of saving time and reducing production costs. That’s why the great majority of CAD jewelry has an aesthetic impact of a painted-over electrical outlet cover.
We work with raw metal using hand tools. Each setting is designed around a particular stone to ensure maximum precision and a perfect fit. At Leon Mege, we are responsible for the entire manufacturing process, from finalizing the design to precise metalwork, setting stones, and polishing.
We are bespoke jewelers
Above all, we are known for our bespoke creations and bridal designs. No project is too large or too modest, from charming push gifts to red-carpet jewels. We choose to work directly with the end consumer, a business model we have long embraced.
We like the interaction with the end user without a middleman and the gratitude we receive. Your heirloom, created to be passed down for generations, will proudly bear the hallmark of Leon Mege.
