Retainer

Do you like getting paid for your work? We do too!

Finding “the one” when it comes to gemstones takes a lot of legwork, research time, and occasionally detective work. To get that search started, we ask for a $400 non-refundable retainer. It’s simply a “good faith” deposit showing we’re in a committed relationship. The retainer covers:
  • Sitting down with us for an in-person design session.
  • Custom diamond/gemstone sourcing tailored to your specific needs.
  • Photos and videos for long-distance collaboration
  • An itemized price quote (stone and labor separate)
  • Professional guidance and unlimited consultations
  • Complimentary in-house appraisal
Every single dollar of your $400 pre-payment goes right toward your gemstone purchase! Here is the best part: You can pay the retainer by credit card with no additional fees, and you can take all the time you need; the retainer never expires.
The retainer reserves our time and initiates the sourcing and design process. It does not limit your purchasing options, obligate you to purchase a particular diamond or gemstone, or lock you into unfavorable terms or pricing. If you have any concerns about the retainer or how it applies to your project, please call us and speak with us directly. We would be happy to discuss the process and address any questions before you proceed.

Retainers from Non-U.S.Residents

Leon Mege Inc. does not accept credit cards issued by foreign banks. Accordingly, clients residing outside the United States must pay the retainer by wire transfer. The required retainer for a non-U.S. resident depends on the anticipated scope and estimated cost of the project. Please contact us to obtain the applicable retainer amount and wire instructions before sending any funds.

Why Do We Require a Retainer?

The retainer reserves our time and initiates the sourcing and design process. It does not limit your purchasing options, obligate you to purchase a particular diamond or gemstone, or lock you into unfavorable terms or pricing. If you have any concerns about the retainer or how it applies to your project, please call us and speak with us directly. We would be happy to discuss the process and address any questions before you proceed.
Sourcing a suitable diamond or gemstone is considerably more involved than simply locating an item in a catalog. Our process may involve examining and comparing multiple stones, reviewing grading reports and supporting documentation, verifying availability and pricing, evaluating proportions and optical characteristics, and selecting the candidates that are genuinely appropriate for your project.
This process requires substantial time and professional expertise. Unfortunately, some prospective clients request extensive sourcing, research, and consultation without any intention of purchasing, effectively using our work and expertise as a free shopping service. The retainer lets us devote the time and resources needed to clients who are serious about moving forward with a project. It also lets us perform the detailed sourcing and vetting process Leon Mege is known for.

What Can You Get Without Paying the Retainer?

You may schedule an initial phone consultation and receive a preliminary price estimate by submitting a quote request on our website. But as soon as you ask us to undertake detailed diamond or gemstone sourcing, do extensive research, or begin developing a specific project, we will require a retainer.
